Joan Heng

Landscapes are the subjects of Joan Heng’s oil paintings, usually done in a contemporary flavor. However, she also paints other subjects in seasons when she felt inspired to do so. Her paintings made use of professional oil colors done in various techniques to represent what she saw in God’s creation of nature. His creativity and perfection never fail to amaze her. Alot of thoughts and research about the landscape go into each painting and will contain characteristics which she felt inspired to include as she paints. She takes delights in having viewers discover each painting’s trait.

Q. How many pieces are you showing this time around?

I will only be exhibiting four pieces.

Q. Since it’s your second show, do you have any expectations for this round?

Personally, I hope to be showing better paintings with each exhibition.

Q. How does this year’s theme resonate with you?

I think this year’s theme is meaningful and I believe that God will make a way again for others just as He has previously promised me that He will make a way for me and He did.

Q. How has the theme Behold affect or influence your painting direction?

I tried to follow the theme but at the same time, the subject matter in my paintings is also what I love to paint whether there’s an exhibition or not. Most of the time, it is how I hear God speaking to me through beautiful scenery or landscape. While I do use references when painting, somehow along the way, there’ll be happy accidents which often turn out wonderful!
